Janice Domke, Managing Director (MLIA (DIP))
Janice Johnston is well placed to run a UK wide recruitment
consultancy and head-hunting business. She has worked in
many different industries before setting up Paragon, which
has existed in a number of forms over the last 6 years.
Janice began her career in retail sales, obtaining a Gemology
Diploma. She became a manger at the age of 21. After this
she entered the world of finance and held various posts.
In 1991 she emigrated to the Middle East, working in oilfield
supplies and subsequently assisting the set up of two new
vehicle leasing franchises. This experience was to serve
her well when she returned to the UK to have her daughter
in 1995.
Following this, Janice moved into Financial Services, working
for Canada Life, Brittania Life, Aegon Group and Legal and
General. She acted as assistant business development manager
at Brittania, and regional administration manager for Legal
and General IFA division.
These experiences gave her a wide understanding of practice
amongst the major UK insurers.
In 1999, Janice was headhunted by a major recruitment firm,
Hays Inter-selection to become a recruitment consultant.
Over the next few years, she held positions with several
of the major UK recruitment companies, Hays, Search and
Elite. She held management positions at Search and Elite.
Finally in 2001, Janice decide to set up her own recruitment
firm with her own values along with one of her top clients.
Paragon Recruitment was born. The business has gone through
two restructures, but counts all of its original clients
today, still with the practice together with many clients
that it has served over the years.
Now Janice runs the business, she still tries to be fully
involved with many of the clients and candidates. Even when
she cannot, the way that Paragon deals with clients is a
reflection of her personality - professional and personal,
treating candidates and clients as people with real needs.
Janice is married, lives in the south side of Glasgow with
her husband, Stewart, daughter Kerry and rabbit Jeff.
