the
start of the interview
You only get one chance to make a first impression and the
importance of making a good first impression cannot be overstated.
A good start to the interview is essential, a lot of people
will make a decision based on the first few minutes of meeting
a candidate. First impressions start the minute you arrive;
be punctual, be polite to the receptionist.
- Smile and shake hands with a firm handshake
- a friendly and relaxed interview can go a long way to
influence the interview, break the ice and dispel nerves.
- Be positive, but not cocky - attitude is very important.
- Do not try and prejudge the interview and job; the position
may not be exactly what you are looking for but could
lead to greater things - the path of life and work rarely
run straight.
- Do not smoke and only accept a tea or coffee if you
are comfortable to do so and don't have to balance it
on your knee.
